Simone Shaikh

Hello, I am Ms Simone and I am the Assistant Year Leader for Year 2 and also the Teacher Assistant Lead practitioner. This is my seventh year at GEMS Founders’ school and my thirteenth year as a class teacher. I am originally from India (Pune) where I studied at Pune University, Sociology and Education. I then undertook my IPGCE with the University of East London, which ignited my passion for teaching and learning. I am a founding teacher at GFS and I have taught Year 2 for three years and Year 1 for three years and now I am all set to move back to Year 2 as the Assistant Year Leader. I have been Awarded ‘The Mariamma Varkey Award’ for Inspirational and Outstanding Teaching at Gems Founders School and I have also been a Finalist- For the SchoolsCompared.com Top Schools Award for Primary School Teacher of the Yearfor my love and commitment to my students and parents.

One of my favourite things about being by GFS is how we put the children at the centre of learning. We focus on their personal, social and emotional wellbeing, not just their academic abilities. I am really looking forward to the year ahead and cannot wait to help your child learn and grow in a positive and inclusive setting.
