Jonathon Bateman

Assistant Headteacher Welfare

Hello, my name is Jonathon Bateman, and I am the Assistant Headteacher of Welfare at GEMS Founders School. I am thrilled to be joining the GFS family and becoming a part of the GFS community this academic year. Originally from the North East of England, I completed my teacher training before moving to London and then calling the UAE my home since 2015. Since becoming a teacher in 2012, I have furthered my studies to achieve a Master’s in Educational Leadership (MA) and the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL).

As an educator, I am dedicated to ensuring that every student thrives both academically and emotionally. With a background in wellbeing and pastoral care, I firmly believe that our role as educators is to create a school environment where learning is not only fun and challenging but also supportive of students' mental, physical, and social wellbeing. This means equipping students with the tools they need to understand and manage their emotions, be resilient, self-aware, and navigate life’s many challenges.

I am excited for this new academic year and look forward to collaborating with various departments to continue improving welfare across the entire GFS community, where we can all ‘grow, flourish, and succeed.’
