"Salam, my name is Bassam El Sayed and I joined GEMS Founders School in March 2018.  I am very excited to be a part of this amazing community and work with the students, teachers and leaders across the school as the Assistant Principal Arabic and Islamic. Acquiring a Bachelor in Arabic Language and Literature with a teaching Diploma from Beirut Arab University, I began my teaching career in 2001, and have been working in education for 19 years since. I began my career by working for three years in Lebanon as an Arabic teacher and eventually led a very successful Languages department.  Upon moving to the UAE, I worked in 2 reputable British schools in Abu Dhabi for eight years which helped me gain interest for developing teaching and learning with students and teachers alike.  This journey led me to Dubai where I worked for another five years in a school that delivered the IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum; further exposing me to a different methodology of learning.  It was during my tenure at this school that I became heavily involved with the KHDA’s ‘Living Arabic’ Action Research Program, developing effective and appropriate educational programs for schools across Dubai.

I am blessed to be in a profession that provides me the opportunity to shape and nurture young minds by providing an engaging, challenging and enjoyable learning experience.  Working with teachers to ensure the students at GFS receive the very best learning opportunities, is key to my role.

In addition to my current role, I am a qualified and trained British Schools Overseas School Inspector.  I also continue to provide and deliver professional development workshops for IB (International Baccalaureate) schools. I look forward to working with everyone in our learning community at GEMS Founders School; students, parents and teachers."
