Head of Secondary Science

I am delighted this academic year to have taken the role of Head of Science and have the opportunity to continue to build the love of Science across GEMS Founders School.  I am originally from Glasgow in Scotland and I completed my higher education at the University of Strathclyde.  I studied to gain a BSc in Chemistry and then an MSc in Forensic Science which has developed my depth of knowledge in the subject area and allowed me to gain both research and practical skills.  After gaining these qualifications, I decided to go back to University to complete my PGDE and begin my teaching career and I have now been teaching for 8 years.

As a scientist we learn that failure just gives us an opportunity to reflect, adapt and try again and I firmly believe that this attitude should be encouraged in our students.  It is my pleasure to work in an environment that supports this both academically and socially to ensure we best prepare our students for their futures.  This is why we want to drive the development of critical thinking and problem solving in Science lessons and create opportunities for learners to apply their learning to explain the world around them.
