Carl Burgess

"Hello, my name is Carl Burgess and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the Head of Year 9. I grew up in a city called Newport, before moving to Swansea to study Sport and Exercise Science as an undergraduate. A few years later, my teaching career started in schools all around Wales, finally completing my PGCE in Physical Education at Cardiff Metropolitan University. I had taught in two schools in Wales, before moving over to Dubai to join this great school. This will be my sixth year at GEMS Founders School and my second year as head of Year.

I still remember all of my teachers fondly and now realize the significant impact they have had upon myself. I’m very happy to be in a position where I can have the same impact on our fantastic learners.  Some of my fondest memories are of school time and it is my hope that our students can build great memories too. I look forward to helping develop our successful adults of the future.
