Deputy Head of Secondary
It is a privilege to be the Deputy Head of the Secondary at GEMS Founders School and a part of a team of dynamic, creative practitioners. Although this is only my third year of working in Dubai, I have been working in education for the past 12 years. Originally from the South East of England, I graduated from Queen Mary’s, University of London with a BSc in Geography with Business Management. It wasn’t much longer before I decided to pursue a career in education and completed my PGCE in Secondary Education, Geography at Durham University. My ethos is of the belief; everyone should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential. I firmly believe that pupils excel when they are encouraged and supported. In turn, this builds confidence and success. Developing independent, creative and happy learners resonates with me, both professionally and personally which is why I am thrilled to be a member of this school community. My past experience has ranged from working through from Key Stage 2, up to Key Stage 5; in a number of roles from, Head of Department and Faculty, Head of House and Leader of Learner. This has enhanced my knowledge and understanding of child development and the theories behind cognitive learning and behaviour. As well as my professional experience, I bring my personal energy and drive to the school. As a passionate walker, I have an inherent sense of adventure, I thrive on overcoming barriers and adversity, an attitude I carry through all aspects of my life. Being a keen traveler I enjoy connecting with diverse cultures, meeting individuals from an array of countries and societies across different continents allows me to gain an insight into daily life from various angles. I am extremely proud of what we have achieved to date in the Secondary School and look forward to another successful year ahead.
