GEMS Founders School – Dubai offers a value-based British education and is one of the few reasonably priced private schools in Dubai to offer world-class standards of education.

Curriculum: National Curriculum for England

Year levels: Foundation Stage (FS) to Year 12

At GEMS Founders School we teach the traditional UK curriculum but in an international context where the UAE Ministry of Education syllabus is incorporated into the curriculum structure.

In addition to the development of specific skills and competencies, the curriculum emphasizes enquiry, creativity, analytical evaluation and other skills needed to meet the challenges of the future.

Course Structure

Foundation Stage (FS1 and FS2)

Age: 3 years old and 4 years old

The Foundation Stage of school introduces young learners to school-life, as students develop their motor skills, foundation-level numeracy and literacy skills, and self-esteem through play-based learning activities in a safe and exciting environment.

Students are introduced to English, Mathematics and Science through activities that include the teaching of:

  • shapes
  • colours
  • letters
  • numbers
  • seasons

Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2)

Age: 5 years old and 6 years old

Our Key Stage 1 students are still discovering their skills and competencies, and at this stage they are introduced to subjects that will lay the foundation for learning as they go into higher year levels. Learning is still exciting and the learning atmosphere is stimulating.

Key Stage 2 (Year 3 to Year 6)

Age: 7 years old to 10 years old

During Key Stage 2, students start to rationalise and think independently. The curriculum sets challenging targets and its methodical implementation encourages each student to pursue individual targets and goals.

By Key Stage 3, the student is ready for creative and accelerated learning. The students become aware of the need to set daily goals and have long-term objectives.

GEMS Founders School are proud to offer a range of IGCSE subjects accredited by Oxford International AQA Examinations and Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE). All qualifications GFS offers are recognised by schools, colleges and universities internationally, thus enabling all of the students to gain access to the best academic institutions in the world. Oxford AQA brings over 100 years of assessment experience, academic research and international best practice whilst CAIE is part of Cambridge Assessment, Europe’s largest assessment agency and a department of the University of Cambridge.

  • English, Mathematics, Islamic Studies, Physical Education, Moral Education and UAE Social Studies compulsory subject
  • Students choose from 5 additional option blocks offering a broad and balanced range of subject
  • Students receive 1 to 1 mentoring and guidance, as well as significant support from the GEMS College Counseling Network

All qualifications GFS offers are recognised by schools, colleges and universities internationally, thus enabling all of the students to gain access to the best academic institutions in the world. Oxford AQA brings over 100 years of assessment experience, academic research and international best practice whilst CAIE is part of Cambridge Assessment, Europe’s largest assessment agency and a department of the University of Cambridge.

  • Students choose from 6 option blocks offering a broad and balanced range of subjects

  • Students choose a minimum of 3 subjects and maximum of 5

  • The Independent Project Qualification (IPQ) provides students with the opportunities to develop skills most desired by top universities and employers.
